Meet Zibby. A nice family adopted Zibby after she and her 3 brothers and sisters were found abandoned at a park near their home. They have had Zibby for 3 years, and she has been a loyal and loving family dog ... most of the time. But Zibby has issues. Sometimes she would growl and show her teeth. Sometimes she would snap at the children in the family. Sometimes she’d snap at guests. She just seems to freak out easily. And she can’t be completely trusted. She’s become very nervous and unpredictable. There were times when she would even bark at her “mom” like she didn’t recognize her any more. She  barks at shadows. She is fearful of loud noises. On walks she will pant and be fearful. Or she’ll bark, in familiar areas where she shouldn’t be afraid.  She’s fine with some dogs, then will attack others. Her family thinks maybe she acts the way she does because of whatever trauma she went through as a small puppy. She is protective and loyal 90% of the time, but it is that 10% that’s scarey. This summer before before her family left for camp, she bit their 8 year old on the face.  She did not pierce the skin but left a bruise.  Her family believes that Zibby was probably anxious because she knew they were leaving, but because she bit someone, the pound came and picked her up.  They still love her and have shed many tears over this. They have called many shelters to hear the answer “no”  because most shelters can not take a dog that bites.   Luckily, they contacted Smiling Dog Farms and they said “YES”! See her settling in to her comfy new townhome on her first day at the farm? Zibby quickly learned to run up the ramp to her second floor. That’s her favorite place to hang out these days. She thinks the view is much better from up there. Even though she’ll miss her family, you can tell that she’s happy to be here at the farm. Here she can always just relax and be herself. Because of her bite history and her unpredictability, Zibby will most likely spend the rest of her life here at the farm. Please consider becoming a Monthly Sponsor for Zibby’s care and maintenance, or you can make a one time donation in her name. Help us keep that happy smile on her face!
