Reynolds has three Sponsors
One evening in May of 2010, a man was cycling on the edge of town and saw a dog in the
ditch that appeared to be dead. He stopped to look closer, and she moved a tiny bit. He
called his wife and she met him with food and water for the dog. They did not know what to do
and thought the dog was too far gone so they ended up calling Animal Control.
They then told a friend who could not stop thinking about the dog. The next day she worked
with a rescue friend who helped her pull Reynolds from the Animal Control shelter. Animal
Control did not think she would live through the night. But, she was alive when she was picked
up the next day!
Unfortunately, she could not walk without falling down and she was severely dehydrated and
anemic. It was discovered she had a dead puppy inside her but she was too weak to be
operated on. The vet estimated she had been that way for about a month before she was found and it was a very large
contributor to her anemia. She also had heartworms, rickets, worms, fleas, ticks, and ear mites. X-rays also showed
pellets from being shot several times but none are life threatening. Surprisingly she survived the spay and after a couple
of months of recuperation time, her red cell count was normal, and her white cell count was down. She had some weight
on her, and she was alert. She was then treated for heartworms which was successful.
After trying to socialize her for months, Reynolds is thought to be unadoptable for the following reasons:
•
She's very skittish
•
She does not respond to her name or come and would not come back if she ever got loose
•
She is not house-trainable
•
She is dog-aggressive and can do a lot of damage
•
She is very destructive - she chews everything she can get a hold of
•
She plays rough with humans
•
She easily over-eats
•
She has extreme separation anxiety
Smiling Dog Farms is the perfect option for Reynolds. We accept all dogs for who they are
and give them unconditional love. Reynolds will remain here, safe and secure in our
Sanctuary. She’ll never be lost or neglected again. She’ll never be without food and water.
Just as importantly, she’ll never be without love again.
