Johnny NEEDS Sponsors
This is Johnny. His story has a sad beginning, but he’s well on his way to a very happy
ending! Johnny came from a shelter in Texas. As you can tell from these pictures, he had a
really bad case of mange, and he was very thin.
Because of the mange, no one wanted him and he was going to be put to sleep. A rescue
worker named Seanna sent emails to several rescues, begging them to take Johnny so he
would not be euthanized at the shelter. But she was having
no luck finding a rescue willing to take a dog like him.
Then she contacted Smiling Dog Farms to see if
they would take him, in spite of his mange.
Ricky and Jay said "Yes"!
Here he is getting his first sulphur bath. Ricky and staff
members gave him these baths once a week for a couple of
months. You can see how bad the mange had gotten. Poor
Johnny had open, bleeding sores all over his skinny little
body. It didn’t help that he kept scratching himself to try to
alleviate the torment of the mange mites.
In addition to the sulphur baths, he got Ivermectin shots once a week, and the sores were
treated with Nu-Stock sulphur paste every day. He’s also given Petinic (a liquid vitamin)
everyday to build up his blood and immune system. He still takes it because it helps him
continue to grow stronger.
You can see his progress in this photo. His fur was
starting to grow back and he was putting on weight.
He felt a lot better, and wasn’t scratching much at all. Those sulphur baths work!
Well here he is today! And Johnny says, “Some change, huh? I have a nice coat of
fur and no more sores! Jay asked me to pose for these last two photos. He wanted to
contrast how I look today, with the sad picture of me at the top (when I was still at the
shelter).
These days I’m never sad ... I’m always happy because Smiling Dog Farms said "yes" and gave me a second chance at life!
On the right, I’m standing in front of one of the new townhouses with big play yards they are
building here at the farm. They are really nice! They have a second floor with a ramp to run up
and down, and windows to see out. I am ready to find a forever home, but until that right one
comes along, I need a play yard and townhome of my own.
I call it my SECOND CHANCE HOUSE of HOPE
because my Hope is that kind people will sponsor my
new home ... and I Hope I get adopted soon ... and I
Hope my townhome and play yard will be there to help
another dog like me have a Second Chance at life!
A few months ago Ricky set up a ChipIn for me and two generous people contributed $225 toward
my new townhome. Even though you can’t see the total on my chipin, more wonderful people
have contributed an additional $270. But I need more to get it done. If you’d like to help build my
townhome, please click on this Donation link.”

Sad Johnny at the shelter
Many sloppy kisses go to the lovely people
who have contributed for my townhome so far!
Please consider donating to help me move into my new
townhome soon.
Now that Johnny’s mange is healed, and he’s gotten strong and healthy again he is looking for a family to
adopt him. We have placed him in our New Directions Adoption Program and are trying to find him the perfect family. He
needs a home where he can be the only “furry” pet (no other dogs, and no cats). If you, or someone you know, would like
information about adopting Johnny, please contact Jay or Ricky at adoptions@smilingdogfarms.org.”
Do I look amazing now, or What!?!
Johnny sends many hugs and sloppy kisses
to his friends who sent One-time Donations!
