Erika has one Sponsor My name is Erika.  I’m a California girl. I came to Texas with my friend Sophie. We both ended up at the same shelter in California, and were put in a kennel together. We became friends at the shelter and learned to rely on each other. The shelter was a scary place, and for many dogs like us that would have been the end of the line.  But, a really great group of people found out about us and decided to rescue us. They worked really hard and got a lot of help from so many wonderful people.  They raised money to build us a townhome with a big play yard and then they flew us to Texas. We even got to take a little vacation at the beach when we arrived here. We love it here at Smiling Dog Farms with Jay and Ricky, and we got off to a great new start. We had a beautiful townhome to share and room to run and play ... and that’s when Sophie decided she could start bossing me around. I’m a really sweet easy going girl, so I put up with it for awhile, but I finally said “enough” and we got into a bit of a tussle. Ricky and Jay decided that we’d both be happier if we didn’t have to share our space any more. One of the people who had helped us get to Texas offered to pay for a second townhome for us, so Sophie moved next door. We can still talk to each other, but now I have a new buddy to share my townhome and play yard with. His name is Rocky Rock, and he’s a really sweet little boy. I’m in the New Directions Adoption Program here at Smiling Dog Farms. Ricky and Jay have promised to help me find a forever home. But they said I’m not to worry if that takes a while, because I’ll always be safe here in the meantime.
