Candy has one Sponsor Candy came to Smiling Dog Farms with her lifelong buddy, Frosty. You can see them together in this picture. Their owner lost his home through unavoidable circumstances and was unable to keep his babies. He looked for a place to take them for a long time before he found Smiling Dog Farms.  He didn't want to separate them, but he was unable to continue providing them with what they needed.  When he contacted Smiling Dog Farms and explained his situation, we agreed to take these sweet dogs and promised to keep them together.  Their owner was able to raise all the money for their housing, but is unable to provide for day-to-day care and maintenance. Unfortunately, we lost Frosty to old age a few months ago. He died quietly in his sleep. It’s a very sad situation for Candy. She’s misses Frosty, and is very lonely right now. Candy is a very sweet elderly girl. We think she’s about 10 years old. She’s a big dog, a Newfoundland mix, and has the quiet, gentle spirit that is pure Newfie. Because she’s a senior, she’s not playful like a younger dog would be. She would not do well in a high energy environment. A family with children would be disappointed in her. She’s a quiet girl who loves to snuggle and be loved on, and she sleeps a lot of her day. Candy would make a wonderful companion for a single adult or low key couple who want a dog who will love them and lay beside them on the sofa watching TV. Candy is in our New Directions Adoption Program. We’re hoping to find her a new home where she can live out the rest of her life with a new loving family ... a special family that knows the value of an older dog.
