Happy Endings - Dogs that have been AdoptedA few years back Smiling Dog Farms established our New Directions Adoption Program. With the help of our wonderful Adoption Partners we have been able to find new loving forever homes for many of the adoptable dogs that came here thinking the farm would be their last home. Our Adoption Partners, and their teams of Fosters, take our dogs into their homes and teach them social graces -- like not to poop on the carpet or chew up the TV remote. This is an important step for our babies who live at the farm under "dog rules". The family that had raised them from puppyhood dumped them at a shelter in California simply because they wanted to start fresh with new puppies. They had to have known that Tarzan and Papa wouldn't have had much of a chance at being adopted individually from that shelter, let alone together. They basically gave them a death sentence.Fortunately, some people from Texas, Michigan, and California saw their picture posted on-line by some rescue cross-posters, and they decided to pull together and save ther lives. They mobilized a cross-country effort to rescue these beautiful boys and send them to Smiling Dog Farms. They contacted everyone they knew to share their story in an all-out effort to raise the funds to get them out of the shelter and transported to Texas before they ran out of time. One wonderful man even donated the entire amount needed to build their town home, to ensure that they’d have a house together after they arrived at the farm! Without the dedicated efforts of this amazing group of people, these boys would have never survived. And none of this could have happened without the generosity of the dozens of people who spread word of this rescue effort and donated the funds to get them to the farm.But the best part of this story is that now Tarzan and Papa have been adopted by a lovely family in Connecticut! They will spend their golden years TOGETHER on a 400 acre farm with people who will love and care for them. The will never be abandoned again! Our fabulous north-east Adoption Partner, Melody, helped these sweet boys find their new forever family and helped them get settled into their new home.
